Summary

TechTVM Expensia is an offline personal income and expense tracker.

  • Your financial records are stored only on your device.
  • The app has no account or registration and does not request permission to access the internet.
  • We (TechTrivandrum) do not collect, receive, store, sell or share your personal or financial information.
  • The app contains no advertising, analytics or tracking.
  • Data leaves your device only when you choose to share a transaction, export a report or create a backup, and only to the app or location you pick.

1. Information stored on your device

When you use the app, it stores the following in a private database on your device:

  • Transactions you record: whether it is income or an expense, the amount, currency, category, date and an optional description.
  • Categories you use or create.
  • Your preferences: theme, currency and, if you use it, the app lock setting and its auto-lock delay.

Your information is stored in the app's private storage and benefits from Android's application isolation and applicable device security protections. These protections depend on your device and its configuration and cannot guarantee absolute security. The app does not add its own encryption to this database.

We have no access to this information. It is not sent to us or to anyone else.

2. Information we do not collect

The app does not collect or transmit:

  • Your name, email address, phone number or any account details (there is no account).
  • Bank, card or payment details (the app does not connect to banks or make payments).
  • Location, contacts, photos, files or device identifiers.
  • Usage statistics, crash reports or advertising identifiers.

The app does not request internet access, so it cannot send information over the network on its own.

3. Optional app lock

You can turn on an optional app lock in Settings → Security. It uses your device's own fingerprint, face or screen lock (PIN, pattern or password) through Android's standard authentication screen.

  • Your fingerprint, face, PIN, pattern and password are handled entirely by Android. The app never sees or stores them; it only receives a success or failure result.
  • The app stores only whether the lock is on and the auto-lock delay you chose. This setting is not included in backups.
  • When the lock is on, the app hides its contents in the recent-apps screen where Android allows it.

4. Sharing a transaction

You can share an individual transaction as an image. This happens only when you tap Share and choose an app in Android's share sheet.

  • The image contains only that transaction: income or expense, amount, currency, category, date, the optional description, the app name and a note that it is a user-recorded transaction, not a payment receipt. It does not include your balance, other transactions or internal identifiers.
  • The image is created on your device and briefly stored in the app's private cache so the app you chose can read it. The app removes such temporary files once they are more than 24 hours old (the next time it starts or shares something); Android may also clear the cache earlier. Exported reports you share are handled the same way.

5. Exporting analytics reports (PNG and PDF)

You can export a summary of the period shown on the Analytics screen as a PNG image or a PDF document. Reports contain totals, savings rate, charts, spending by category and a comparison with the previous period for that period only. They do not list individual transactions.

Reports are created on your device. You can share them through Android's share sheet or save them to a location you choose with Android's file picker.

6. Backup and restore

You can create a backup file of your data in Settings → Backup and restore.

  • The backup contains all your transactions, categories, theme and currency settings. It does not contain your app lock setting.
  • Backup files are not encrypted. Anyone who has the file can read the financial information in it.
  • You choose where the file is saved using Android's file picker. If you choose a cloud service (for example, Google Drive), that service stores the file under its own terms and privacy policy. The app never connects to it directly.
  • Restoring a backup replaces the data on your device with the data in the file you choose.

Automatic Android cloud backup is turned off for this app, so your records are not copied to Google's backup service. If you uninstall the app or clear its data without a backup, your records are permanently deleted and we cannot recover them.

7. Your responsibility for shared and exported files

Shared images, exported reports and backup files leave the app's protection once you send or save them. After that:

  • They are stored or used under the control of the app, service or person you sent them to, and under that party's own privacy policy.
  • You are responsible for keeping them safe and for deciding who receives them. We cannot access, recall or delete files you have shared or saved.

Please share financial information only with people and services you trust.

8. Permissions

The app requests only:

  • Use biometric hardware / fingerprint (USE_BIOMETRIC, USE_FINGERPRINT): to show Android's authentication screen for the optional app lock.

It does not request internet, storage, location, camera, contacts or microphone permissions. Files are saved or opened only through Android's file picker, where you choose each file.

9. Third-party services

The app does not include third-party services that receive your data. It uses open-source software libraries that run entirely on your device; they are listed in the app under Settings → Open-source licences.

When you share or save a file, the app or service you choose is a third party and its own privacy policy applies.

10. Children

TechTVM Expensia is intended for adults aged 18 and above and is not directed at children. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

11. Your choices and control

Because your information stays on your device, you are in full control:

  • Edit or delete any transaction in the app.
  • Create, keep or delete backup files.
  • Turn the app lock on or off (with your device's authentication).
  • Delete all app data by clearing the app's storage in Android settings or by uninstalling the app.

We hold no copy of your information, so there is nothing for us to access, correct or delete on your behalf.

12. Security

We designed the app to keep your records on your device and to let them leave only when you choose. No method of storage is completely secure. Protect your device with a screen lock, keep it updated, consider the optional app lock and store backup files in a safe place.

13. Changes to this policy

If a future version changes how the app handles information, we will update this policy and its effective date on our website before or when that version is released. Significant changes will also be noted in the app's release notes.
